City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum will once again collaborate with the charity association, Dar Al Atta’a to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate by encouraging people to donate during Ramadan.
Now in its 13th year, ‘Make A Difference’ is Majid Al Futtaim’s annual initiative that spreads the message of kindness and empathy. It teaches the community the value of giving and compassion and encourage everyone to donate, providing families in need with everyday essentials.
City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum have been working closely with Dar Al Atta’a for the past four years. During the Holy Month, the Sultanate’s much-loved shopping destinations will have collection boxes in key areas of the malls for shoppers to donate items, such as wearable clothing, toys, books and canned or dry food items. All collected goods will be given to Dar Al Atta’a to be distributed to the underprivileged in Oman.
Dr. Shamsa Al Harthy, General Manager, Dar al Atta’a, commented: “We are very pleased to collaborate once again with Majid Al Futtaim. City Centre Muscat and City Centre Al Qurum have played a vital and active role in the success of our Ramadan initiatives over the past years, which is aimed at helping the less fortunate across the Sultanate of Oman. This year, we will continue to collect donations, including food, clothes, toys and books. We will also be available at City Centre malls throughout the Holy Month to sell donation coupons.”
“Our Make a Difference initiative with Dar Al Atta’a has made great strides in getting the community together for a good cause, and this is reflected in the growing number of visitors who donate to the less fortunate every year,” said Husam Al Mandhari, Senior Mall Manager – Oman – Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim – Properties. “This year, we once again invite the communities to embrace the spirit of giving, to open their hearts and generously donate to underprivileged families this Ramadan.”
City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum will also transform with elegant and traditional décor to mark the Holy Month. Visitors are invited to enjoy the soothing and spiritual ambience and participate in cultural activities all month.
The malls will be offering a traditional jallab drink to everyone visiting after Iftar time. They will be entertained by a roaming whirling Turkish Mawlawi performance that will take place every other night. On the 14th day of Ramadan, the malls will also celebrate the colourful ‘Qaranqasho’ with several family entertainments including a magical puppet and LED lights show.
For Iftar and Suhoor, diners can choose from a wide range of Arabic and international cuisine at the mall’s restaurants, which will be open until 1am. City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum will be open from 10am till 12-midnight in the first three weeks of Ramadan and from 10am till 1am during the last week and Eid break.
Watfa Humaid Al Harthy, Senior Mall Manager at City Centre Qurum said: “Ramadan is about bringing people together. Let us embrace the true spirit of this occasion and make a difference in others’ lives. We look forward to celebrating the Holy Month with you.”
