The exhibition explores the evolving relationship between contemporary art and traditional craftsmanship, featuring a curated selection of artists whose works have been reimagined through the centuries-old Iranian art of handwoven carpets. This cross-cultural collaboration with Thames Carpets—a family-run atelier founded in 1956 and now led by a father–daughter duo—offers a rare dialogue between the tactile legacy of rug-making and the innovative expressions of modern artistry.

A Dialogue Between Craft and Concept
Through this project, the boundaries between materiality, heritage, and digital-age expression are redefined. Each artist’s work, including that of Al Moosawi, has been meticulously transformed into woven form—thread by thread—preserving the essence of their visual language while embracing the imperfections and intricacies of handmade craft.
For Mays Al Moosawi, whose practice often investigates identity, memory, and the poetics of transformation, this collaboration extends her dialogue between the physical and the ephemeral. Her featured work—translated into the medium of carpet—embodies her continuous exploration of cultural intersectionality and the emotional resonance of place. Through this reinterpretation, Al Moosawi’s art becomes both object and narrative—woven not only from wool and silk but from stories that bridge Oman’s artistic heritage with global contemporary discourse.
Bridging Worlds Through Art
POST HUMAN VII x THAMES CARPETS stands as a testament to how ancient craftsmanship can find new life in contemporary contexts. The exhibition reflects a shared reverence for tradition and an openness to reimagination, bringing together artists from diverse geographies whose works collectively transcend borders.
Al Moosawi’s inclusion in this London showcase marks an important moment for Omani contemporary art on the global stage, highlighting the region’s growing voice within the international art conversation. It also celebrates the artist’s commitment to exploring the fluidity of cultural identity—a theme that continues to define her evolving body of work.
