122.
Dazzled by flashing lights, we went up, up, and up again. This disco of a lift shot us up to the 122nd floor of Burj Khalifa. It’s the tallest building in the world so we weren’t surprised our ears popped. Smartly dressed, we were ready for High Tea at their beautiful restaurant, At.mosphere, where our table overlooked the sights of Dubai; just a pane of glass between us and the golden city.
At.mosphere has the high views, and now it just demanded the high standards and service to match. We dragged our eyes away from the window to tell our waiter what we would like to drink. All of this called for celebration, a celebration that design and development made possible. Bubbles were poured with height, at a great height.
Each course came swiftly and stylishly. Our finger sandwiches were like an abstract painting, swirls of smoked salmon, egg whites, yolk and cress in flag formation, caramelised wafers cut into sophisticated squares. All the classic flavours, dressed to impress.
Short intervals allowed us to sit back and relax, and when our scallops arrived, they were indulgent and wonderfully presented. A bed of sumptuous pea puree for that added touch. A selection of sweet treats and cakes were then brought upon a tiered stand, silver; it mimicked shapes from the city.
Every colour of the rainbow washed down with a pot of smoked Earl Grey tea. Our verdict? We recommend it. Highly.
