Whenever we feel like having an adventurous weekend escape packed with lots of recreational activities, we head over to Millennium Resort Mussanah, a destination for fervent followers of all things fun.
Located a mere 45 minutes away from the capital, Millennium Resort Mussanah is a hidden gem for families that enjoy a little bit of adventure. Your itinerary here will be heavy on the activities, promising a weekend full of breathtaking marina views, fun-filled beaching activities, and lots of water sports.
The resort takes the form of a semi-circular building that comprises 308 rooms facing the beautiful marina, with five swimming pools, a rejuvenating spa facility, a dedicated area for kids, and three restaurants serving local and international cuisines.
Before taking off to the marina and exploring the latest additions to their recreational activities, we checked in to my marina-facing suite to freshen up and treat ourselves with a warm, relaxing shower. Inside the spacious room, a homely and welcoming atmosphere fills the air, with a kitchen for all our late night cooking sessions, a comfortable bed for a good night sleep, and a decent balcony overlooking the Gulf of Oman.
The Recreational Aspect
The best part about the resort is its recreational facilities, where visitors enjoy a stay at the resort or a staycation pass where they get access to all the fun activities on offer for the whole day.
Apart from enjoying a dip in the crystal-blue waters at Millennium Resort Mussanah, you can explore their outdoor leisure activities that will offer you an adventure fix for the weekend. You can golf it up at the18-hole mini-golf course; squash some ball at the tennis courts, swim at one of the five swimming pools, one of which is exclusive to families, experience the adrenaline-pumping game of zipline, spend the afternoon in Aqua Fun floating water park, yacht and sail away with your friends, or dive into the blue with snorkelling sessions for the whole family. The options are endless. The place also offers customised packages for the pickiest of travellers and sports enthusiasts.
The Diving Package
Another exciting feature at the resort is the diving package, which includes diving excursions by professional instructors from PADI dive centre. Visitors can sail to the Dimaniyat Islands, located one hour away from the resort, where a mesmerising underwater world awaits.
The dive package will take experienced divers and less experienced visitors to a group of islands about 18km offshore to the North of Muscat to meet some of Oman’s best aquatic life. Guests will get to explore beautiful coral reefs, nesting sea turtles, schooling fish, moray eels and tropical reef fish, eagle and mobula rays, and the leopard shark to name a few.

With treatments ranging from simple body massages to more complex ayurvedic massages with interesting mechanisms and massaging techniques.

Foodies, rejoice; there are a few dining and wounding options for beachfront and pool-side dining. You can stop by Mydan for a unique International cuisine set amidst luxury setting and panoramic views of the marina.
Al Bahar is another stop that offers delicious fusion cuisines with simplicity and home-style cooking. And for lovers of casual ambience, Azure at the Beach Club is the perfect spot, with its large terrace between hotel side marina and poolside, providing a place to combine formal dining with a casual poolside setting.
For lounging, visitors can unwind at Compass Bar where beverages are served with a view, or at The Deck, a modern and relaxed lounge bar offering a variety of snacks and light bites, by the pool.
To sum it all up, I come here for a weekend escape away from the mundane, with the whole family. It is a destination that promises a ton of opportunities for making memorable moments with your loved ones. A true leisure destination for all things fun.
