Are you a fan of guacamole, tacos, enchiladas and slow-pulled beef burritos? Well, at La Tablita we are not talking about the commercial, international take-on Mexican food, this is the real deal!
Found on the ground floor of the Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights, you are immediately transported to the bustling life of Mexico, complete with Mexican waiters and chefs. A bold and energetic ‘Bienvenido’ is exchanged on arriving to the restaurant, and we are soon acquainted with Riccardo, our dashing, quick-witted and energetic waiter with a fountain of Mexican foodie-knowledge and a love of his country. “We are all from Mexico-city and to be in Dubai sharing our nation’s signature dishes is a real honour. It’s very exciting to see people try our classics for the first time. Would you like to start with a Margharita?”… Yes, he had us enthralled already.

La Tablita offers the most authentic, well-sourced foods, served with true Mexican taste and ambiance. With the staff predominantly of Mexican descent, the buzz of the service oozes familiarity and a commendable knowledge about the menu. The seating is a mix of private cubicles and tables where walls showcase impressive modern art and Mexican murals.
There’s a wide variety of dishes available, offering everything from sea bass to a good choice of steak slabs cooked to perfection; literally melting in your mouth. Our team tried classics featuring Mexican Corn; the true star of most Mexican dishes, paired with an unusual Mexican mushroom, which delivered a creamy texture and thickness, and a light film on the palette.
The Tacos Pescados were equally pleasing, with lightly fried shrimp balls served with a healthy dose of fresh lime, coriander, sweet onion and Mexican salsa. The fragrant flavor and crispy enveloped tacos made for a perfect pairing. Not to mention, the BEST guacamole to have ever arrived to the GCC. Whether it’s made with Mexican love, or uses Mexican avocados, this starter is not to be missed. The tangy balance of lime, avocado, red onion, coriander and cilantro are exquisite! We could have eaten this all evening and never tired of the flavour and texture.
Moving onto dessert, we were treated to a trio of treats. We started with the classic Tres Leches cake (three milk cake) made of soft spongy cake, milk cream and a perfect texture of brittle nut flake paired with the startling sweetness of jalapeno ice-cream. A true gem of a dessert. 10/10 for this one!
We also tried the Mexican version of Churros, served with two dipping sauces. One being the classic bitter chocolate, notorious in all of Spain, Mexico and South America. Our waiter, Riccardo, was soon to invite us to try a special which is not featured on the menu entitled ‘Goats Milk Cajeta’ which is a subtle blend of fresh goats milk and cane sugar. The result? A rich, toffee-like dip which sticks to the warm doughtnut fingers and glazes them, and your mouth, with a sumptuous moreish sauce. It’s one of a kind.
Overall, our experience at La Tablita was immensely ‘deliciosa’ and offered a well-priced and fantastic menu for which is a joy to experience.
Big thanks to Riccardo, Chef and the entire team at La Tablita. Keep up the great energy amigos!
