Founded last year by Sheikha Hind Bahwan, the niche perfume house has already gained a dedicated following, and recently opened its first concept store in the UAE. The Ojar shop-in-shop at Perfumery & Co in The Dubai Mall is an open, airy space with splashes of the label’s signature deep blue.
A consultation with the Ojar team to guide you through the scent library is a fruitful way to spend an hour, allowing you to decide which of the six families of fragrance you want to be your base note: rose, frankincense, honey, sandalwood, oud and musk. It’s a heady experience and easy to be seduced by evocative names of Ojar’s potions such as Eagle Eyed Stranger and Stallion Soul, but pull yourself together – this decision is key to your new perfumed life.
Once one of the unisex Absolutes is chosen, it’s recommended to add two eau de parfum boosters, which mingle with the perfume oil, and create your own unique scent.
The eau de parfum bottles can be accesorised with interlocking canisters that complement the Absolute range’s unique bottle, which features a cap with dual dispensers; a roll-on applicator and a glass stick applicator, a first in the industry. Swiping the stick across the inside of your forearms, then dabbing the roll-on on your key pulse points guarantees the rich oil will linger in a manner that is just not possible using a spray alone. There’s also a new body oil mist for extra olfactory oomph.
