I recall walking into Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok, Thailand, you drive up past all the pillars and you just know you’re in for an experience. However, once you walk in you find yourself immediately distracted by the creative design. It’s a magical garden, beneath a high ceiling and you’ll find yourself forgetting to check in because you’re too busy admiring the décor.
As I walk into my room, I was fascinated by the grandness of it all, true to the brand. My king-sized bed was truly fit for a king but my views were the best, I was high enough to admire central Bangkok at its finest. My favourite part of the views was that through the two windows that serve two completely different views of the city.
As I continued exploring the hotel I noticed that on my desk I get my own personal phone to use during my stay, which I think was one of my favourite touches (along with the complementary cold coconut juice served fresh.)
Despite a central location and easy access to all the best malls in the city (most of them located in walking distance, which is ideal in a city like Bangkok where traffic is a common situation), Taking the skywalk is easy and accessible through the hotel.
For lunch, I decided to indulge in Thai food and went to the Grand Hyatt Tearoom, which is not only located in the hotel but is accessible through the hotel’s mall which offers everything from high fashion to a supermarket!
At lunch, I was in awe of the options and luckily had someone who made choosing an easier option and this was the moment that I truly fell in love with Thai food. Everything was cooked to perfection, the presentation was even better but the lobster in curry sauce was by far one of the best things I have ever had.
Lunch was so good, you’ll have no option but to go back to your room for a daytime nap and with soft beds that draw you in you’ll need an alarm to wake you up.
If I was to recommend anything it would be to take a room with a sky club access because that was certainly the place to be when you want to relax and grab a bite at the same time. Located on the 17th floor the club gives you exceptional city views, an early evening buffet to savour, served with unlimited drinks.
After a dreamy night’s sleep, I woke up and decided to check out the pool. Secluded in its own little paradise, the pool area is hugged by a wall of trees. I was in a rush to jump in. Pool temperatures are always something I’m worried about so I took the stairs in but the water temperature was the perfect balance to the sunny skies. I found myself swimming in no time and staying in for much longer than I had anticipated.
The only reason I even left the pool was that it was 3pm and I needed to head over to the spa for my massage appointment. I booked their highly recommended Oil Massage for 60 minutes and found myself greeted with smiles and a fresh cup of tea with a cold towel to freshen up. Just as I finished my tea I was taken to my massage room, which is a pathway that ends in private rooms hugged by more trees, once I got in the room I was happy with how spacious it is and complete with beds and a private shower and changing room.
Whenever you’re in Thailand, you will inevitably try as many massages as possible. Some will be high-end and others will not. However, the masseuse I had at Grand Hyatt had the softest hands probably in all of Thailand! You are being massaged by clouds, within minutes I found myself comfortable and more relaxed than I could have ever been. It’s a shame I forgot to get her name because she deserves a recommendation but if she’s anything to judge by, I’m sure that Grand Hyatt Erawan has hired the right staff.
Once it was done I needed a few minutes to actually get back from ‘cloud 9’ and just as I finished getting dressed and made my way back I was given a seat overlooking the pool and got to enjoy the view and weather while sipping another cup of tea with a beautiful array of dried fruits that pair together beautifully.
A highlight of the hotel for me would be how attentive the staff is, I sprained my foot when I was out shopping during my stay and when I got back and felt it and needed some medical attention they were prompt to do a checkup and follow through with the necessary. This was when the hotel truly felt like home.
Would I go back to Grand Hyatt Erawan? Absolutely. In a city where location is key, the hotel is the ultimate definition of it, it’s central to all the touristic hotspots and many of them are in walking distance. Not to mention that there’s a supermarket in the hotel’s mall.
