This Ramadan, One&Only The Palm collaborates with world-renowned calligraphy artist Karim Jabbari in a unique cultural activation presented by ArtKōrero. The installation invites guests to connect with the spiritual essence of the holy month through an innovative fusion of light, shadow, and Arabic script that bridges tradition and contemporary expression.
Recently named among the Top 30 Public Artists globally, Jabbari has crafted a wooden, laser-cut installation that reflects a poem embodying the profound emotions experienced during Ramadan—spirituality, peace, and contemplation. The installation will be displayed at ZEST, where Iftar will be served throughout the month.
Through a sophisticated interplay of light and shadow, the wooden sculpture creates an evolving visual narrative that reflects this spiritual progression.
In addition to the main installation, Jabbari will conduct live calligraphy performances, offering guests an opportunity to witness his artistic process firsthand. A grand canvas calligraphy rollout will adorn the lobby, complemented by nine individual artworks throughout the space, immersing visitors in Jabbari’s artistic vision.
The Tunisian-born, Dubai-based artist is currently enjoying significant momentum in the regional art scene, having recently showcased his work at the 2024 SIKKA Art Festival and maintaining a concurrent solo exhibition at Inloco Gallery in Al Quoz, Dubai. His distinctive approach to Arabic calligraphy has earned him recognition at prestigious events including the First Islamic Biennale in Jeddah and the 2023 Dubai Calligraphy Biennale.
This meaningful collaboration between One&Only The Palm and ArtKōrero celebrates Ramadan through the lens of contemporary art while honouring traditional Islamic calligraphy. It reflects the resort’s commitment to providing guests with culturally significant experiences during the holy month.
