Tell us about your body of work…
My work explores the relationship between memory and our experience of the natural world and I turn to close observation of nature for inspiration. I confess that I’m a romantic at heart, I want my vibrant, natural abstracts to bring us back the poetry and the vitality that are at the essence of our experience of nature. I want to tell the story of our most precious moments through rhythm and shape, colour and line.
How did Oman inspiRe you?
My time in Oman was extremely inspiring because there is the freedom to explore and really be in contact with nature – which to me is the ultimate luxury. Moments spent in Masirah and at Bandar Khairan were the basis for some of my strongest pieces and it’s the memories of these times that I try to distil into my work.
Tell us about your latest series…
The Phosphorescence Series were inspired by unforgettable nights spent observing bio-luminescence washing up on the shore and my painting “Camping at Bandar Khairan” captures the clear, silvery moonlight on the water and the backdrop of the Hajar mountains. These works represent the freedom to enjoy the beauty of nature and I’m honoured that they were chosen by HH Sayyid Theyazin Al Said for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. They are now available to buy as limited edition prints on my website.
Tell us about your recent project that supports environmental preservation…
Of course. I recently released my painting “Masirah” as a limited edition print and I will donate 10% of all sales to ESO. Co-signed by HH Sayyid Theyazin Al Said, it raised 10,000 OMR for ESO’s Whale and Dolphin Project in 2020. Masirah’s unique environment is truly special and inspirational for me, and so I want to continue to support ESO’s conversation efforts through my work.
How can we see more of your work?
