Amal Al Raisi’s Autumn Winter Collection 2023 is an ode to the beautiful relationships Oman has built over the years with its neighboring countries. With Oman holding a strong Marine history it opened doors to sea trading creating connections to the rest of the world.
Centuries ago when trade was the onset of creating these bonds, it also gave an opportunity to observe, understand and share knowledge with each other. Oman’s commendable maritime skills made it possible to share the story of Omani culture and heritage beyond the borders. Not only did we share our story but we got the opportunity to hear their stories too. I have always admired the relationship between Oman and Qatar. In 2022 when an opportunity bestowed upon me to present a collection in Qatar during the world cup, I decided to go back to where it all began for the two nations. Although the show was in November 2022 I didn’t want my story about Oman and Qatar to end there as it deserved to be told to the whole world, therefore I decided to dedicate my AW23 Collection to the tale of the two nations, Oman & Qatar. I would define it as a tale of love, trust, respect and purity.
In the early ages Al Zubarah, the trading center of Qatar made it possible for building trade relations with Oman, India, etc. Trade relations between Qatar & Oman go back to the 18th Century. Many goods such as dates, spices and metal were exchanged / transported through the ports. During this time both countries shared its rich culture and heritage with each other.
Inspired by the enchanting dunes, sabkhahs, pearls and limestones of Qatar, this season captures timeless elegance through fluid silhouettes and feminine details. The ethereal color palette signifies champaign colored dunes, amber brown forts, old rose salt flats and the grey limestones of Qatar. Delicate sequins and beads are hand embroidered on sheer sparkle tulle and chiffons. The silhouettes are dreamy featuring elegant layers, soft ruffles, sheer panels and flowy cuts. Delicate and intricate embroidery present in the collections signifies the preciousness of the
relationship between Oman and Qatar. The neutral tones and sheer soft fabrics embody the respect and trust the two nations share with each other. This collection is a true representation of the luxurious heritage of both the nations.
