IHG Hotels & Resorts will debut its global upscale boutique brand, Hotel Indigo, in the Sultanate in early 2022 with the opening of Hotel Indigo Jabal Al Akhdar.
After debuting its upscale boutique hotel brand Hotel Indigo in Dubai’s Downtown in 2020, IHG Hotels & Resorts is continuing the brands’ foray into the GCC with another regional opening, with Hotel Indigo Jabal Al Akhdar.
Set to open high in Oman’s rugged mountains in early 2022, the property will feature 176 design-led rooms, fusing modern design with authentic Omani experiences to immerse visitors in the local culture. At roughly 2,000 metres above sea level, Hotel Indigo Jabal Al Akhdar will command 360-degree views of the scenic mountains, encouraging al fresco adventure with a range of leisure and cultural activities such as mountain biking, hiking, cave exploring, and visits to the Fort and Souq of Nizwa.
Commenting on the signing, Pascal Gauvin, IHG’s regional managing director, said: “Oman has always been known for its hospitality and we remain committed to meaningfully grow our footprint here and bring more hotels and brands to key locations in the country to offer world-class hospitality to guests coming to the region.”
A six-hour drive from Dubai and two hours from the Omani capital of Muscat, three restaurants will specialise in local and international flavours, while relaxing and pampering on-site facilities will include outdoor and indoor pools and a 2,200 square metre spa.
Alongside the opening of Hotel Indigo Jabal Al Akhdar, Oman’s hospitality scene is awaiting the debut of several high-end resorts over the next two years. In 2021, the Dhofar region will see the arrival of the long awaited Alila Hinu Bay, which will unroll along a stretch of natural beach on Oman’s southwest coast. The sophisticated beachfront resort comprises 112 rooms, split between 96 guestrooms and 16 pool villas, each contemporary in style and with thoughtful design. Dining by design will offer meals in the cosy grape cellar, on a breezy beachfront, atop a mountain or in the comfort of a villa.
Jumeirah Muscat Bay will debut in the second half of 2021
Opening in Muscat in the latter half of 2021 and nestled in the secluded Bandar Jissah cove, Jumeirah Muscat Bay will display ergonomic design, allowing for exterior and interior spaces to flow seamlessly together. In addition to 206 spacious suites and rooms, there will be a strong emphasis on wellbeing, with a 1,200sqm Talise Spa, plus a range of sports and leisure facilities – including a dive centre to experience the rich marine life in the waters.
