Whether you take pleasure in splashing waters at one of the valleys or enjoy ocean swimming, there is something for everyone. Here are our top four destinations for a quick dip in the open.
Bimmah Sink Hole
Bimmah Sink Hole is one of Oman’s natural wonders that attract visitors from around the globe. The place is a lake of turquoise waters formed naturally in shape of an encircled swimming pool. Located in the limestone of eastern Muscat, between the towns of Bimmah and Dibab, the sinkhole boasts a depth of about 20 metres and is only 600 metres away from the ocean.

Qantab
Though Qantab is far smaller than Qurum beach, it offers a tranquil atmosphere and spectacular mountain views. You can easily arrange for a boatman to drop you off on a beach all to yourself and pick you up later. The best part is, it’s only a short drive from Muscat, a few kilometres before the Shangri-La Resort.

Wadi Shab
One of the most beautiful attractions with rugged surfaces and wonderful views. Loved by tourists for its pools and hiking tracks, the place is a perfect spot for adventurers at heart. Make sure to swim towards the cave through the wadi, as it will be an experience to remember. The lower end of the wadi is deep, so caution is advised.

Snake Gorge (Snake Canyon)
Inside Wadi Bani Awf, there is a long, narrow canyon with high, vertical walls on either side. Adventurers can kickstart their trip at the top, and work their way down a series of cliff jumps, natural water slides and underground pools. Located about 2 hours away from the capital, this place is quite unique for swimming enthusiasts. If you’re a first-timer, make sure to visit the place with an experienced wild swimmer.
