It’s been a while since I truly enjoyed a festival in town, especially one that sends me straight into a food coma. The second season of Muscat Eat has brought back its food festival phenomenon that brings together all your favourite restaurants and cafes under one roof, to celebrate the art of street food indulgence amidst live music and cooking shows. Here are five stations you must try:
1. Asado Steakhouse
Stop by the Asado station for some premium juicy cuts, prepared in the hands of arbiters of steak cooking. Make sure to try the beef cheeks and their succulent burger!
2. Karak Gholam
Karak Gholam is a new coffee shop that serves all your milky sips, from saffron milk to Vietnamese coffee and classic karak tea. Make sure to try their Vietnamese coffee, which is made with a base of condensed milk. Yum.
3. Cinnabon
There is no way to finish this list without including Cinnabon, a place that serves a variety of cinnamon rolls and other baked goods. Everything served here is an absolute delight. And, it pairs well with a cup of karak.
4. Savannah BBQ
How about Swahili food for the night? Savannah is offering a meaty plate full of chunks of either beef or chicken, topped with kachori (a potato-based East African snack), spicy fries, and corns. Make sure to go there early before their delicious food runs out.
5. Knafati Cafe
This station is a one-stop-shop for Arabic sweets. Head over here for hot plates of kunafa served with various toppings. Perfectly crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Because we love indulging in this dessert, we packed a few plates for later.
6. Bubble Lab
I stopped here for a quick thirst-quencher, and it did not disappoint. If you are a fan of iced bubble teas, then a stop here is recommended. Make sure to try their passion fruit green tea with blackberries. Just Delicious.
7. Bait Al Salih
This place exudes a homemade vibe that makes it a unique stop. Serving local favourites such as the triangular-shaped samboosa, mishkak (skewered meat) and luqaimat (deep-fried dumplings covered in sugar). They also served other items that you should not miss.
8. My Cookie Dough
Saving the best for last. This was an exciting treat to try. Gigantic cookie dough topped with a variety of sauces and creams. A must-try for the sweet-toothed. The portion is huge, so sharing is caring.
