As a frequent traveller, I usually expect the hotel I stay at to feel like home, but at the same time offer me a different environ and a different experience. Not many hotels strike this balance, those that do can make your stay memorable. One such hotel is the V Hotel: The Curio Collection by Hilton.
Located right on the Sheikh Zayed Road, the V Hotel is the perfect location for tourists, business travellers and for those who just want to skin in the Dubai essence.
This homegrown brand, in partnership with Hilton, has taken a completely different approach to the whole concept of hotel stay. Focusing on the ‘artist’ in you, the V hotel has come up with an accommodation that you will remember for a lifetime. Designed with a motto of ‘being free’ the V Hotel will inspire you with its open and creative plan.
The V hotel astounds you from the moment you enter; you are zipped to the 30th floor on a fast elevator for a smooth check-in as you take in the breathtaking views of the Dubai canal and the Dubai coast through the high glass walls around…and you already know you are assured of a futuristic experience.
The hotel boasts a variety of rooms to suit every traveller’s needs and… purse. My room, the signature ‘Valor Suite’ was something more than I could expect. The vast and white-themed studio type (studio is an understatement … its huge!) suite looked very much like a capsule from the future. Divided into two major sections- the living area and the bedroom area, the Valor Suite can easily accommodate a party of five or a single traveller, who wants to enjoy the enormous space all by oneself!
The living area is furnished with an angular L-shaped sofa with additional round cushions thrown in and a designer coffee table for those special coffee moments. Just adjacent to the living area is a fully equipped refreshment centre stocked with hot and cold drinks of your choice.
The bedroom area is, unlike other hotels has a gigantic king size round bed (yes, round bed!) overlooking the meandering Dubai Canal. The oversized bed is an absolute bliss for you to roll on or over. The bedroom space combines a lounging space, a widescreen TV and a work zone perfect for those who want to catch up with emails and maybe social media too!
The shower-room (which is split from the toilet) overlooks the highway and the Dubai canal.
Now comes the best part of the V-Suite, a fully functional bathtub– not in the shower room, but in the room itself, overlooking the aesthetic V Deck. Complementing the white-washed theme of the suite is a striking avant-garde modern painting in vivid colours, just so there is a colourful contrast.

The V Hotel Dubai has three restaurants where you can enjoy a variety of gourmet cuisines.
Namu the Korean/Japanese restaurant located on the 31st floor is a perfect place to experience authentic Korean food. With a menu filled with a wide variety of sushi, tempuras, japchae and rice, Namu is a wonderful place to just dine in.
Level 7 Restaurant
For those who crave authentic Mediterranean food, Level 7 Restaurant is the place for you. If you are longing for that hot cup of brew, then just relax at the Level 7 Café.
V Lounge
Watch the yachts sail down the Dubai canal as the sun sets with your favourite drink in your hand. The V Lounge offers wonderful music, refreshments and any drink you want with breathtaking views of the city from floor 30.
