Catching my attention through social media splendour, the Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay had been making regular appearances on my social media feeds and so I headed over to Dubai to check it out for myself.
As a leading cosmopolitan 5-star hotel in Dubai, Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay is the first Steigenberger Hotel in the region, introducing renowned German Hospitality to the already spectacular city and destination of Dubai. Located in the heart of the Business Bay district with very close proximity to the Burj Khalifa – the tallest tower in the world, and The Dubai Mall – the largest mall in the world and the Dubai Downtown area, it seemed the perfect location for anyone wanting to live the real ‘Dubai Life’.
Though the hotel is not at a ‘walkable’ distance from the nearest metro, there are numerous taxis that can zip you to the hotel in minutes. The high-roof reception area with its marbled floor and bold art works on the walls, gave an introduction to the roots of the German brand with the modernity of the present day Middle East. My room, located on the eighth floor, was compact but comfortable for two; carpeted, stylish and chic. The bathroom was spacious, well lit and well stocked. I happen to be a firm fan of the Aigner brand of toiletries; another nod to German hospitality.
Amenities such as organic juices stocked up in the mini bar and a lengthy pillow menu accompanied the bed set up, with choices ranging from buckwheat pillow to duck feather.
The hotel boasts stunning views of Burj Khalifa as well as views of the recently opened Dubai Canal. I chose the canal view and enjoyed how its winding entirety gave a sense of fluidity, taking me away from its concrete jungle neighbours.
The pool terrace also offers outstanding views of the glittering skyline and iconic skyscrapers; it’s truly a place to ‘swim with a view’. Guests are certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to ‘Instagram-able’ moments. The swimming deck has a quirky pool-side bar, Swim & Tonic, so be sure to relax by the pool with a drink-in-hand and take in the views of the world’s tallest building. My tip? Go early in the morning to catch the mellow rays and enjoy the pool exclusively (I had it all to myself as the city awoke from its slumber).
For a delicious breakfast, experience the Bayside restaurant with a traditional continental menu of eggs, sausages, breads and hearty European favourites, or enjoy Arabic and Indian cuisines from the buffet; the restaurant certainly has a vast array to choose from.
Now, onto the German-styled Brothaus Bakery-Bistro. If you are craving something sweet, then Brothaus has an amazing variety of cakes, pretzels and delicacies to enjoy. Perfect for light bites and sweet indulgences. The hotel also hosts other unique eateries such as The Backyard, Cuisinero Uno and the recently opened restaurant, The Secret Terrace.
One thing that must be celebrated are the staff. The Steigenberger team are warm and dressed in bright smiles; truly welcoming you home. Whether travelling for business or pleasure, you will feel the reassured comfort of welcoming hospitality and charm.
Would I visit the hotel again? Oh yes. Even if it weren’t for the exquisite German hospitality, I would go for the Banana Brulee Cheesecake alone!
Book yourself in. Enjoy the city. Grab a pretzel (You can thank me later!)
