Last night’s celebrations marked the second edition of The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, referred to as “Lo Straordinario Gusto Italiano – The Extraordinary Italian Taste”, where over 300 guests attended a private reception held in the beautiful setting of the Italian Ambassador’s Residence, to promote Italian gastronomy and lifestyle.
Presented by the Embassy of Italy with the partnership of the Italian Trade Agency ICE, City of Pesaro, Regione Marche and The OmanI Italian Friendship Association, the evening depicted specialist food and drink from the city of Pesaro. world-class service and hospitality from Oman’s leading hotels and Italian restaurants and a magnificent Opera performance by the cast of Royal Opera House Muscat’s most recent production “L’occasione fa il ladro”.
Earmarked to the City of Pesaro, the Region Marche and the Rossini Opera Festival, the event served to commemorate the life of Gioachino Rossini, who passed away 150 years ago. “Giachino Rossini was not only a great composer, but a brilliant gourmet”. – H.E. The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World takes place in 120 countries worldwide and aims to promote the colours of local culinary tradition, the landscape and environment of extraordinary beauty and richness, and the very best of Italian food and drink.
Together with the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Vincenzo Amendola, and two of Pesaro’s renowned Masterchefs, Chef Gilberto Santini & Chef Massimo Cremonesi, the celebration encouraged guests to explore Italian cuisine and culture, in anticipation of the week of activities planned from 20th – 26th November 2017. The week will include cookery shows, celebrity chef appearances and week-long special menu presented by hotel and restaurant partners for the public to experience.
