The relaxed beachside dining restaurant Al Mina, which translates to ‘The Port’ in Arabic, is perched upon the white sandy beaches of Salalah at the stunning Al Baleed Resort by Anantara.
Capturing the Mediterranean’s zesty flavours, the restaurant and its team of expert Chefs have devised a menu that is uncomplicated; simple dishes cooked to perfection. In true mediterranean style, the measure of its quality is in the ingredients. Authentic buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil and delectable cilantro are just some of the items that elevated the dining experience to something uncommon to other properties in The Sultanate “We have daily imports of such ingredients to ensure guests experience authenticity, flavour and quality”.
Al Mina serves Lebanese, Italian, Greek, Turkish and Spanish classics using the finest seasonal ingredients and fresh seafood caught daily. Guests can enjoy light dishes and fresh salads as they lounge by the pool during the day or enjoy sophisticated evenings enjoying the best of the fisherman’s catch. As night falls and the ocean can be heard washing the shores, diners can retreat to the terrace to enjoy shisha, exotic cocktails and fine wines under a blanket of stars. It offers perfect all-day dining options for the luxury traveller; relaxed, unobtrusive with impeccable attention to detail.
Team Oman Magazine visited for a taste test of their own; incognito! Our lunch started with crispy calamari, served atop an oversized martini-esque glass pedestal, with crunchy-zesty bruschetta and homemade focaccia breads, served with an olive-oil, anchovy and tomato paste spread. The flavours were outstanding with service to match. After a hearty starter, we had little room for mains, and yet we were lured in by the beautifully described Seafood Linguine; al dente linguine pasta, tomato and chilli base with a whole host of squid, calamari, mussels and rich seafood. It was surprisingly light (as it should be) but certainly carried a kick! Whilst not the classic Italian seafood linguine, the heat from the chilli would certainly please the Middle Eastern visitor and many of Salalah’s regular visitors. We will most definitely be back for more summery lunches; who could ask for more? Beachfront and flavourful.
