NBO continues to drive digital innovation with its Mobile Wallet, integrated with CBO’s MpClear system

National Bank of Oman (NBO) has introduced a Mobile Wallet system that integrates with MpClear, a system developed by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) that allows customers to make payments instantly and securely.

To make their customers’ lives easier, NBO has made this service available through its Mobile Banking App. The App can now be used to facilitate mobile payment clearing by using just the phone number of the recipient. The innovative technology means customers can make cashless payments without the account number of the beneficiary.  With this service, NBO further underscores its commitment to simplifying everyday banking in line with the digital banking revolution taking place across the industry.

Abdul Karim Zahran Al Hinai, Head of Digital Banking, National Bank of Oman, said: “National Bank of Oman is delighted to expand the services on its Mobile Banking App with the introduction of Mobile Wallet that integrates with CBO’s MpClear system. As the population across the Sultanate embraces new technologies, it is important to adopt more digital solutions that make banking easier, faster and more secure. This move not only improves the electronic payment infrastructure across the country, but also helps empower the unbanked segment through financial inclusion.”

NBO’s all-in-one Mobile Banking App is available on the App Store and Google Play, and can be downloaded on a smart mobile device by navigating to nbo.om/mb.
