A Stroll Through “The Garden” at Fashion Forward Dubai 2019

If I had my way, I’d wear jewelry, a great pair of heels, and nothing else.” – Jada Pinkett Smith

“Save The Planet – it’s the only planet with chocolate!” Earrings engraved with these words of wisdom by Ma Cherie accessories, and clutches made of seashells with strong textural contrasts and clean shapes by US-based designer brand Emm Kuo are just some of the novel pieces you’ll want to pick up from ‘The Garden’ at Fashion Forward Dubai October 2019 Edition.

From New York and Bangkok to Lebanon and Italy, the unique retail space is hosting more than 20 designers for the weekend. With an enormous variety of accessories, bags, and apparel, the fashion platform provides homegrown and international designers an ideal place to showcase and sell their bespoke pieces. Along with FFWD’s latest ‘#ShopTheShow’ program, ‘The Garden’ delivers countless opportunities for retail therapy.

Take a closer look at Duet Luxury’s understated bags.  The creations are inspired by mother nature simplified in geometric forms and shape with an architectural touch to create innovative sculptural wearable work.

With sustainability at its core, AASSTTIINN – which means ‘sleeve’ in Farsi – is displaying several local designers from Iran. If you believe in fashion with a cause, here’s where you can find earrings made from recyclable paper and utilitarian bags created from tube tires; no joke!  Other humanitarian designers featured, which include Sheen Jewellery – the designer showcased her collection at LFW – that dedicates their proceeds to humanitarian causes; from the profits they earn at FFWD, a partial amount will be given to UNHRC and Omni’s, – a retail store for handbags – employs local underprivileged Egyptian women for their production to provide them with a source of income.  Omni’s’ bags are hand sewn by local seamstresses from their homes.

For influencers who are inspired by design mogul, Emmaline Kuo Ranzman has brought her celebrity-loved Emm Kuo collection to ‘The Garden’ too, along with quirky accessories by Dubai-based O Concept Store, the eclectic fashion boutique features  exclusive designers including Tom Rebl, Jeremy Scott, and Pyramyd – an eco-conscious brand.

For those who want to have some unique pieces of their own, BJewelry World, Djewelled and LX2 Studio presented by Ajour Consultancy, and Moucharabieh offer bespoke jewellery that takes your breath away. And, If you like the idea of embracing imperfection then you’re going to love Misk Concept’s statement headpieces, crafted with fabrics, crystals, pearls and beads – bold, unique and outrageously beautiful. Mixing metals can feel daunting if you’re a one metal kind of person but it’s a great way to build a look that’s unique. Rosa Maria’s creations are made from a mix of silver and gold combined with a wild array of stones.  The raw, organic shapes of her pieces give wearers endless possibilities for adding more styles and combining them with one other.
